Bitcoin is the best known of all the cryptocurrencies. It was the first peer-to-peer digital currency that is built on the blockchain ledger framework. Furthermore, it is open-source with the design being available for public scrutiny. An unknown person or group under the name of Satoshi Nakamoto invented Bitcoin in 2009.

Bitcoin, along with other popular cryptocurrencies, is created through a process of mining the coin. In this process, a series of complex mathematical equations (hash algorithms) are solved by the Bitcoin mining software. Every time an algorithm is solved, the miner earns one Bitcoin.

Because of the limited number of hash algorithms that can be solved, and by extension the number of Bitcoins that can be mined, it has become more challenging to solve these algorithms. Therefore, immense processing power in the form of Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) is needed to continue to generate Bitcoins.

Bitcoin has turned already people into millionaires. None of the other cryptocurrencies has come close to Bitcoin’s price levels. Therefore, Bitcoin trading is ideal for traders who intend to invest on a large scale.

As the name indicates, Bitcoin Cash is a derivative of the original Bitcoin cryptocurrency. The Bitcoin Cash framework was derived from the Bitcoin infrastructure in what is known as a “hard fork”. This fork occurred in August 2017, and it happened due to concerns about Bitcoin’s scalability issues. Even though both Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash are independent currencies, there are many similarities between the two digital currencies.

The most significant difference between the two coins is that a Bitcoin Cash developer solved Bitcoin’s scalability and speed issues by increasing the blockchain block size. Thus, Bitcoin Cash transactions tend to be faster than with the vanilla-flavoured Bitcoin transactions.

When Bitcoin Cash started transacting, its value was high. During its relatively short lifespan, the price has shown a lot of movement, making it appealing for CFD investors. On the other hand, Bitcoin Cash has not seen the same unbelievable price increases as Bitcoin and other digital currencies.

DASH was initially released as XCoin in 2014. However, it was later renamed to DASH, a mixture of the words “digital” and “cash”. This cryptocurrency is built on an open-source peer-to-peer digital framework with a core focus on the payments industry. Additionally, it is based on the Bitcoin protocol, and its core focus is that of user-friendliness and scalability.

DASH’s unique feature is that it provides an extra layer of network servers resulting in additional security. Unlike other digital currencies, DASH is managed by a company, including a large team of developers and volunteers to improve and maintain the currency framework.

When the coin was first released, a systemic error caused about two million coins to be mined in the first two days after its release. Consequently, the initial value was initially low. However, this issue was quickly solved, ensuring the stability of the coin.

DASH is one of the high-value digital currencies. Therefore, to ensure the best chance of guaranteeing a trading profit, it is essential for investors to follow the price movements and price movement history closely.

Ethereum is a unique developer network, creating a variety of decentralized apps. It was brought to life in 2014 by a non-profit organization with a very ambitious goal. The Ethereum network aims to create a “more globally accessible, more free and more trustworthy internet”. The associated cryptocurrency is what drives the network.

Use of Ethereum opens additional possibilities, such as setting up “smart contracts”. This is another aspect in which this cryptocurrency slightly differs from others.

Over the year 2016, the price of the Ethereum remained under $15. A very comfortable price level for investors, who started counting their winnings in the summer of 2017 and saw a radical increase at the break of the year.

Trading Hours: 24/7

Cryptocurrencies are continually developing and forking (splitting). The original Ethereum was divided into two separate forks: Ethereum and Ethereum Classic. This fork occurred in the aftermath of a significant hack on 17 June 2016 where 1/3 of Ethereum’s value (circa USD 50 million) was hacked. Plugging the vulnerabilities in the Ethereum network caused a hard fork (based on new rules) to occur, resulting in two different cryptocurrencies: Ethereum and Ethereum Classic.

The original Ethereum network (before the fork) is now known as Ethereum Classic while the new fork is known as Ethereum.

Today, Ethereum Classic maybe less popular, but equally secure.

Furthermore, Ethereum Classic can be described as a low-profile cryptocurrency for the investor. It’s relatively low price and high volatility yields certain advantages for CFD trading.

Like most cryptocurrencies, Litecoin is a peer-to-peer-based digital currency and is based on a similar model to Bitcoin. However, the Litecoin framework allows for a significantly higher number of transactions to be processed in the same timeframe as the Bitcoin blockchain ledger. The reason being that the Litecoin blockchain framework generates blocks more frequently than Bitcoin without needing to improve (or fork) the structure it’s built upon. Consequently, not only are transactions confirmed in a shorter space of time, but brokers can receive more transaction confirmations simultaneously when selling more expensive items.

Finally, Litecoin has some noteworthy security and technological enhancements such as the Segregated Witness security protocol (SegWit) and the Lightning Network (the ability to process transactions quickly and cheaply).

As far as its price movements are concerned, Litecoin has a fascinating history. It was first released in October 2011, and in November 2013 Litecoin experienced a sudden massive jump in price, reaching its top level with a 100% increase within 24 hours. Then, in the last part of 2017, the Litecoin price rose again by another incredible amount of circa 400%. These extraordinary increases in the Litecoin price are what provides the coin’s high-winning potential, but on the other hand, it adds an equally high level of risk, albeit worthwhile to Litecoin traders.

Monero is an open-source, decentralised digital currency whose primary focus is on privacy. It was developed in April 2014, and it was created to improve the availability, confidentiality, and speed of existing cryptocurrencies.

Even though Monero transaction details are kept entirely private, the digital currency framework uses a public ledger to log transactions. Ergo, all the information about the trade: sender, recipient, and amount are obscured during the transaction transmission and history. Furthermore, the transactions are not traceable because Monero coins are entirely fungible.

These privacy issues are not relevant to the investor. The salient point is that the Monero cryptocurrency price level is affordable, and the currency has lots of potential to increase its value. Therefore, traders should consider Monero.

Ripple is one of the world’s biggest cryptocurrencies. It is a real-time currency exchange and payment network that is built on a decentralised, open-source Internet protocol. It was released in 2012, and it supports secure, immediate, and almost-free global financial transactions of any size without any chargebacks.

Ripple is the first digital currency that was accepted by the banking industry. This is because the Ripple framework uses a slightly different transaction verification technology. The first online bank started receiving Ripple transactions as early as 2014. Ripple is still the preferred digital currency accepted by both banks and large financial institutions.

Ripple has yet to be noticed by the cryptocurrency trading fraternity. However, it should be noted that the coin has definite potential. Accordingly, Investors should keep an eye on this cryptocurrency.

Trading Hours: 24/7

ZCash is one of the relative newcomers to the digital currency industry. ZCash’s name comes from the term “Zerocoin”. Basically, the Zerocoin protocol was improved upon for it to evolve into the Zerocash (ZCash) framework. In 2016, the ZCash digital currency was developed on top of this framework.

ZCash is a decentralised, open-source currency whose fundamentals include strong security and privacy protocols. Furthermore, it is a “zero-knowledge” cryptocurrency in that it contains a zero-knowledge set of rules. Succinctly stated, reciprocative zero-knowledge protocols need interaction between both the transacting parties (or computer systems). Thus, proving both their knowledge and the validation of this knowledge without giving away the information that confirms the facts of the transaction. Therefore, the Zerocash framework protects the identity of the sender, receiver, and the transaction amount. Finally, transaction details are not kept on record once the deal has been concluded.

The Zerocash framework with its strong emphasis on privacy and security makes ZCash popular with traders. However, there also seem to be claims of security vulnerabilities.

The price of the ZCash has been moderately firm and continues to remain medium-high with good potential.

Throughout history, gold coins have been widely used as legal tender. The early paper money was typically seen as voucher redeemable for gold coins or bullion. Before the 1930s Great Depression, the fiscal system known as The Gold Standard was in place. Primarily, a unit of currency was allocated a weight of gold. And the money could be exchanged for the equivalent gold allotment. For a long time, the United States government set the value of the US dollar (USD) as follows: one Troy Ounce was equal to $20.67 ($664.56/kg). But, in1934 the USD was revalued at $35.00 per troy ounce ($1125.27/kg).

By 1961 it was becoming difficult to support this price. Therefore, a group of US and European bankers decided to manipulate the market to stop further currency devaluation versus the increased demand for gold.

The gold pool collapsed on March 17, 1968, due to adverse monetary conditions. Consequently, a two-tiered pricing system was instituted whereby gold was still used to pay global accounts at the original $35.00 per troy ounce ($1.13/g); however, the private market gold price was allowed to fluctuate. Finally, this two-tiered appraisal system was discontinued in 1975. And the gold price was allowed find its free-market levels.

Gold is viewed as a fundamental hedge against global inflation. Consequently, concurrently with crude and other metals prices, is highly associated with global growth, particularly in emerging markets.

Sweet crude oil is a petroleum variant. Petroleum is thought to be “sweet” if it includes less than 0.5% sulphur, as opposed to the higher sulphur percentages in sour crude oil. Sweet crude oil contains minute quantities of hydrogen sulphide and carbon dioxide. High grade, low sulphur crude oil is ordinarily used to manufacture gasoline. Therefore, there is a high demand for Light Sweet Crude, especially in the industrialised countries. “Light sweet crude oil” is essentially the most sought-after crude oil variant as it contains a disproportionately large amount of the essential ingredients that are used in the production of gasoline, high-quality diesel, and kerosene. The phrase “sweet” was coined because the low sulphur levels give the oil a moderately sweet taste and pleasant smell. Nineteenth-century oil prospectors would taste and smell minute amounts of the oil to decide what quality the oil was.

Light Sweet Oil is deemed a benchmark for oil, and it is traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Also, Light Sweet Oil is marked as a natural inflation hedge. And, in the last few years, the oil price was associated with the world’s economic growth.
